In the market for a luxury electric vehicle? If so, you might want to turn your attention to Mercedes Benz. After launching a trio of EVs a few months ago, its flagship battery-powered vehicle has landed in the country.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS has made its local debut and is available in one variant, the EQS 450 4Matic. With that, Mercedes-Benz Philippines now has four full electric vehicles in its portfolio.

Completely unrelated to the fuel-fed S-Class, the EQS sits on a scalable platform used by its smaller sibling, the EQE. That said, it’s still the size of a long-wheelbase S-Class at over 5.2 meters long. It’s also worth pointing out that the local model comes with the AMG Line style package.

Inside, drivers are greeted by what Mercedes-Benz calls a HyperScreen. There’s a large center display that serves as the car’s infotainment system, while a secondary screen is placed on the passenger side of the dash. All in all, it measures 56 inches, the digital instrument cluster included. Acres of wood and leather are a given.

At the back, the seats can recline for a more relaxing position. There two seats over there, making this strictly a four-seater. Those seated at the back can also control select functions via a front seat mounted screen. A Burmester surround sound system then pumps tunes out of its speakers. Further boosting its practicality is its liftback design that gives it a cargo area larger than the S-Class sedan.

The local-spec EQS uses a pair of two electric motors that power the front and rear wheels. Combined, those motors produce 355hp and 800Nm of torque to power all wheels. It has a battery capacity of up to 120kWh giving it a range of around 685km.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4Matic retails for P9,990,000.
