MG Philippines has just confirmed its attendance for the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS)—taking place at the World Trade Center Manila, from June 4 to 7, 2026. With the stage set, only one question remains: What does MG have in store for this year’s show?
While the plug-in hybrid G50 will likely make another appearance, it could share the floor with another electrified people hauler. The seven-seater RX9 has just been recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE), and it could shape up to be the brand’s next release.

It was launched in the United Kingdom in March 2026, debuting as MG’s first three-row SUV. There, it was called the S9, but the DOE’s database suggests that it could be named the RX9 locally.

However, the powertrain remains as is. Specifically, the plug-in hybrid system is built around a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a 24.7kWh battery powering a single-electric motor. The RX9 is then rated for 100km of fully electric driving, with 324hp of power motivating everything.

MG has also equipped this SUV with a myriad premium features and creature comforts. For starters, the front row seats are heated and ventilated, and also have massage settings. The second row has two captain’s seats with four-way adjustment capabilities, while the reclining rear bench seat can fold in a 50-50 configuration for better versatility.
The RX9 also gets the full suite of MG Pilot, or the brand’s suite of advanced driver-assistance features. Functions like adaptive cruise control, collision warnings, and crossing traffic alerts are all onboard, and further supported by a 360-degree camera system.
With all of these refinements, buyers should also expect a higher price point. MG has yet to share what its plans are for PIMS, but interestingly, the brand did showcase the HS plug-in hybrid crossover at the 2024 show. Perhaps history will repeat itself come June 4.
