MG Philippines has had a string of launches this year, kicking off with the One crossover in February and the MG 3 hatchback and G50 Plus MPV earlier this month. Now it turns its attention to the model that helped solidify its reputation in the local market: the MG ZS.
The carmaker’s bestseller gets updated for 2024, adopting the hexagonal grille shape and ‘Obsidian Matrix Grille’ pattern of the ZS T variant. The LED projector headlamps are lined with ‘snake-like’ LED daytime running lights, while the lower bumpers get silver garnish and the 17-inch wheels now sport a two-tone tomahawk design. Exterior color options are Extreme Speed Red, Laser Blue, Electro-Optic Orange, Blade Silver, Meteorite Black, and Moon White.

The centerpiece of the cabin is the 10-inch floating touchscreen—a big improvement over the old unit the ZS debuted with in 2018, and one that’s necessary given the high level of tech found in newer budget crossovers. The interior is still an all-black affair with red accents. A panoramic sunroof also comes standard.

Those hoping the turbocharged engine of the ZS T would trickle down to the rest of the range don’t get their wish, unfortunately: It’s still the naturally aspirated 1.5-liter gasoline engine powering the facelifted ZS. There’s no improvement in output, either, with the same 112hp and 150Nm of torque driving the wheels via a continuously variable transmission.

Making the drive safer and easier than before are the 360-degree camera, which is available on the top-spec variant, and the electric parking brake with auto hold.
The 2024 ZS comes in two variants called COM and LUX (short for ‘Comfort’ and ‘Luxury,’ but the carmaker is sticking with the shortened versions by default). The pre-facelift ZS line is still available, too. Here are all the variants and prices:
