After a long wait, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) has finally launched the all-new Triton. We’re sure pickup fans and Strada loyalists have been waiting patiently for this one.
The next-generation pickup debuts bearing an overhauled exterior which we’re sure you’ve seen dozens of times already at this point. It’s this boxy new Dynamic Shield design that now adorns the front end, with a large grille, swept-back DRLs, and snazzy, sizeable headlamps.
In the Athlete variant, the Triton gets more ruggedness thanks to the black contrasting bits and the blacked-out wheels underneath.

New engine options here are available as well. In case you hadn’t seen them yet, there are two: a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel and a twin-turbo version. The former churns out 181hp and 430Nm of torque and can be mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic and with 4x2 or 4x4 configurations. The latter, meanwhile, is capable of 200hp and 470Nm of torque but can exclusively be had with a six-speed automatic and Super Select 4WD-II. All 4WD trims come with a rear-differential lock.
Extra tech also come aplenty, with the range-topping Athlete boasting seven different drive modes and a nine-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other head unit options include an eight-inch display with wired smartphone connectivity and an integrated audio with Bluetooth connectivity.
The top-spec Triton also gets the full suite of safety features including active yaw control, hill-descent control, forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning with lane-change and lane-departure warning.
We’ll have more details in a separate story, so we’ll stop yapping for now. You can go ahead and check outour Launch Pad feature here, as well as the full price list below. What do yo think of Mitsubishi’s newest offering?
