Ford has announced that its new line of affordable electric vehicles will be highlighted by a new midsize pickup. The American carmaker has not confirmed if this new pickup will use the Ranger nameplate or will stand as a smaller option to its F-150 Lightning EV.
The new electric pickup is expected to debut in 2027, with a starting price of $30,000 (around P1.712 million). In that price range, Ford could go head-to-head with the likes of BYD and Changan, both of which produce electrified pickups at highly competitive prices.

However, the pickup will be built at the brand’s assembly plant in Louisville, Kentucky—and with today’s unpredictable tariffs, it’s unclear how much the EV will cost in other markets. At the time of writing, the Philippines has a 0% tariff on American-made goods, which could help keep Ford’s electric pickup relatively competitive if that agreement remains in place by 2027.

The pickup will ride on the new Ford Universal Electric Vehicle Platform (FUEVP), which should help the carmaker streamline production and manage costs without sacrificing build quality. On FUEVP, the pickup is expected to perform similarly to the Mustang EcoBoost. This would mean 0-100kph sprints in less than 5sec, while exclusively using lithium-ion phosphate batteries.
The Blue Oval hasn’t mentioned what other new EVs are in the pipeline, but previous reports have mentioned that a new seven-seater van or SUV may also be in development. Future generations of the E-Transit and F-150 Lightning could also make use of the new platform down the line.
