Manufacturers, do you need to bump up sales? Why not make a black edition of a certain model? For years, it’s been one of the go-to moves of automakers to boost interest in particular models.
Most of the time, it simply involves the company giving the chrome bits of a car gloss black highlights instead. Black wheels are also thrown in, along with extra black interior bits. But the folks at Nissan didn’t take that route with the Nissan Almera.

Dubbed the Nissan Almera Kuro GT, this black edition model gets more effort given into it. Yes, the black highlights are still there, but the parts fitted to it are of interest.
For starters, the it gets a body kit, and that’s not something most black edition models get. More importantly, the kit fitted to the subcompact sedan comes from Tomei. JDM fans know that it’s as good as it gets, as Tomei is one of the big aftermarket companies of Japan.

Tomei gave the Almera a deeper front chin, a side skirt, and a kit for the rear. Rounding up the upgrades is a rear wing. And despite it being called a black edition, Nissan gave its sedan a new color: Glacier Grey.

You might have noticed the wheels as well. It’s exclusive to this model and it’s made by Impul. Those in the know understand how much of a big deal that is. After all, Impul is one of Nissan’s top aftermarket suppliers. For the Almera, it’s a 16-inch set with a two-tone finish.
Other changes? It gets window tints as standard, along with window visors, kick plates, door handle protectors, and a set of sport pedals. That said, things are a little tamer under the hood. It still uses the same 1.0-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder engine. Power is retained at 99hp and 152Nm of torque.
Want it? Unfortunately, you'll have to fly to Malaysia to get it. It's limited to just 300 units as an add-on for those who want to buy an Almera. There's the standard Kuro Edition sans the kit, but the JDM goodies attached are just too good to pass up.
