Back in April 2024, Nissan Philippines displayed its midsized electric crossover, the Ariya. At the time, the company didn’t confirm if it will be sold officially in the country, although there were strong indications of that happening.
Fast forward to today and the Nissan Ariya has just received its homologation papers from the LTO (Land Transportation Office). Just in time too as there are more EV crossovers coming out these days.

That said, the papers don’t necessarily mean that it’s confined for local sale, at least through Nissan’s official channels. There’s still that possibility that it’s homologated for the benefit of grey market units. Think Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.6 sales here.
Still, the fact that Nissan Philippines brought in the Ariya here twice (the second during EV Summit 2024) for display hints at a strong interest in offering it here. By the looks of it, we’re getting the ‘Performance’ variant of the electric crossover.

Based on the papers, the version approved for the Philippine market will pack 389hp, a top speed of 200kph, and a maximum range of 533km. Other stats for the Nissan Ariya Performance? It has a battery capacity of 90kWh, a fairly large battery pack. All-wheel drive is standard and it can hit the 100kph mark under 5.5 seconds.
Nissan has been going through challenges lately, but the company is proactive in turning the tide. During last year’s Philippine International Motor Show, the company previewed four models we can expect down the line. It included the Magnite, X-Trail e-Power, all-new Patrol, and the Z Nismo.

On top of that, Honda and Nissan recently signed an MoU for a partnership and one of the conditions is for the latter to improve its financial stability to move forward. The Ariya, along with the rest of the models mentioned, need to do well for the sake of the Japanese automaker’s future.
