You might have heard of the R35 Nissan GT-R’s possible production end this year. There’s no confirmation from Nissan just yet, but after 17 years on sale, it will inevitably end at some point.

Despite the report, it hasn’t stopped Nissan from giving the grand tourer yet another update for the 2025 model year. At first glance, it seems like a minor change just to keep interest going for it. However, there is a major technical update for select variants of the car.

It’s difficult to tell what’s new from the outside. However, the mid-spec Premium Edition is now available with a new color called Blue Heaven. That same color can also be applied to the car’s interior. So, all that fluff for a new color? Well, no.

Choose the Premium Edition T-Spec or the Track Edition Engineered by NISMO T-Spec, and you’ll get some nice upgrades under the hood. Those variants come with high precision weight-balanced piston rings, connecting rods and crankshafts, something that was previously reserved for the GT-R NISMO Special Edition.

Mind you, there was no mention of any extra horsepower or torque, but Nissan did mention improved response and faster turbo spooling. To make things a little bit more special, the Premium and Track Edition models also get a gold model plate in the engine bay.

But here’s there part that gets interesting. The company says ‘production is limited’ for the updated Nissan GT-R, stating that not all orders will be granted. Could this mean production is winding down?

No one can say with certainty if that’s true. There is also no mention how many will be built. One thing is for sure, though, and it’s that the 2025 model year R35 will be a rare car, indeed.
