In the current field of midsize pickup trucks, the Nissan Navara is the, um, most seasoned of the group. This year marks its tenth year in production and was first introduced in 2014.

Mind you, it’s still a competent truck. However, the rest of the competition have either released all-new designs in the last few years of have their next-gen models ready to rock

Nissan The Arc Business plan

Nissan has been quiet about the next-gen Navara to a point some have been thinking that it will be discontinued. Truth be told, it sounds too far-fetched of an idea given how lucrative that segment has been over the last decade. But to silence the doubters, the company has made a one time, big time presentation that previews all the models it will launch within the next couple of years.

The company set a bold and ambitious target for itself. Called The Arc business plan, it aims to release 30 new models to be launched by fiscal year 2026 (mid-2027 in calendar years), of which 16 will be electrified. Not only that, it also previewed all the models under the business plan.

So, where does the Navara come in? In the presentation, one can see a silhouette of what clearly is a pickup truck. And if there’s still any doubt as to what it is, Nissan president and CEO Makoto Uchida’s presentation mentioned a ‘next-generation one-ton pickup’ in cooperation with Mitsubishi Motors.

It was previously mentioned that the alliance of Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi will include shared development of commercial vehicles. By the looks of things, it will be the Nissan Navara that will be among the first Mitsubishi-developed commercial vehicles to be offered soon. Plug-in hybrid and electric versions are also in the pipeline, per the presentation.

As for the look of the new pickup, we see C-shaped light patters at the back. There’s also the Navara’s signature tailgate ‘spoiler’ right at the back. Meanwhile, the front end gets a squared-off look with distinct daytime running lights.

There’s no set launch date just yet, but one thing is for sure, Nissan will be very busy for the next few years. Fingers crossed the all-new Navara arrives sooner than later, then.
