Nissan Navara sees price hikes of P125,000 to P370,000

It’s not just Toyota and Ford that have raised its prices due to the reimposed excise taxes on pickups. The Nissan Navara has also been hit by the duties, and the increases range from somewhat acceptable to downright eye-watering.

While Nissan Philippines did its best to hold it off, stocks of pre-excise units have been depleted. Unlike the Ranger, No Navara variant has been spared from the price increase. Sorry, folks.

For those looking at the workhorse variant of the Navara, there is some solace here. The base EL 4x2 MT price is up by a somewhat acceptable P125,000. However, all the other trim levels see an increase upwards of P275,000.

Take the mid-spec VL Calibre 4x2 AT, for instance. One of the more popular variants of the Navara has gone up by P310,000. Go for the VL 4x4 models and you’ll have to pay P350,000 more than before. Oh, and that’s not even the biggest jump in the range.

If you were saving up for a Pro-4X, it’s time to clock in a little more overtime. That’s because this model sees an increase of P370,000 from before. Yes, the range-topping Navara is knocking on the door of the Terra VL 4x4.

The pickup market has a huge challenge ahead of it. Given that its prices now overlap with their respective SUV counterparts, we might see a shift in consumer preferences. And while some pickup manufacturers have yet to adjust their pricing, the hikes will be inevitable.
