Has anyone warned Hyundai that Nissan is trying to muscle in on its pixel-based design language? This is the new Nissan Pixo, and we’re told by Masato Koyama, Nissan’s head of exterior design, that it features a “bold, cube-shaped silhouette.” And check out those pixelated wheels. It’s still quite clearly a rebadged Renault Twingo, though, isn’t it? We’ve added a photo below for your reference. (Some of you might even remember that earlier versions used to be based on the India-manufactured Suzuki Alto.)
To that end, most of the stats you’ll have heard already. We’re talking a 27.5kWh LFP battery, an 80hp motor driving the front wheels, and around 250km of range on a single charge. There’s also the same 9.9-meter turning circle as the Twingo, and an impressive 356 liters of cargo space with the sliding rear seats in their most forward position.
Unlike Renault, though, Nissan will offer the 50kW DC fast charging as standard across all variants. That means a top-up from 15% to 80% takes 28 minutes. It has also bulked up the Pixo’s face, fitted new lights, and dotted some smiley robot face easter eggs around the car and cabin.

That cabin is very similar to that of the Twingo, too. There’s a seven-inch driver display, and most trims will get a 10-inch central touchscreen that runs Google Built-In and the Gemini AI assistant.
Nissan also promises 24 different advanced driver-assist systems and hands-free parking tech. But hang on—isn’t the point of the Twingo/Pixo that it’s so compact, it’s a piece of cake to park? It’s under 3.8 meters long, after all.
Anyway, the Pixo will be built alongside the Twingo in Slovenia, and it should arrive on European roads in early 2027. Pricing hasn’t been announced just yet, but it’s worth noting that in the region, the Nissan Micra matches the cash price of its Renault 5 sibling, so expect to see something similar here.
