Nissan Philippines brought out a couple of special surprises, accommpanied by a familiar friend, at the 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle (PEV) Summit.

The Nissan booth illuminated the SMX Convention Center with three displays that represented the innovation that the Japanese car company brings to the electric vehicle market. Gearheads entering the convention center had their eyes set to an EV unfamiliar to Philippine roads—the Nissan Ariya.

Embodying the design philosophy of ‘Timeless Japanese Futurism,’ the Ariya has been a hit in the European and North American markets. The 4WD crossover offers a lot of versatility for the everyday driver due to its impressive 610km driving range. Making 400hp and 600Nm of torque doesn’t hurt either.

It’s a shame the Ariya hasn’t hit Philippine roads yet, especially with the electric crossover market expanding at a rapid pace.

Right next to the Ariya was an impressive Formule E Racing Simulator—decked out in a Nismo theme, of course. It was a fun and creative gesture from Nissan as kids and motorists could hop in and drive around a digital track at crazy speeds.

At the end of the booth was the Nissan Kicks e-Power. With the emergence of EVs and hybrids, it’s hard to believe the Kicks has been around for only two years. It seems like it has reached ‘ol reliable’ status for those trying to make the shift to EVs and hybrids.

Drivers interested in electrified motoring also got a taste of e-Power as Nissan also offered the opportunity to test drive the Kicks and the all-electric Leaf during the event.

The integration of EVs doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon, and Nissan aims to be at the forefront of that trend. As Nissan Philippines president Yasuhisa Masuda puts it: “This year, we are highlighting the exciting future we have ahead, thanks to electrification. At Nissan, we remain committed to delivering innovative electrified vehicles for our customers over the coming years.”
