Were you able to catch the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) this weekend? If so, then you probably saw Toyota Motor Philippines’ display. One of the highlights of its showcase, though, wasn’t exactly inside the booth—it was the car outside the World Trade Center.
Ladies and gents, this is the new Toyota Camry. This is the facelifted version of the ninth-generation model that recently made its debut in ASEAN. While no specific details were shared with us just yet, we were able to get a proper look at this new model.

It now features a new Prius-like face, with C-shaped headlamps that look like they stretch the width of the front fascia. Underneath is a wide, gaping grille flanked by air intakes on the front bumper. The rear remains untouched.
Inside, the new Camry—at least the unit previewed—is clad in a plethora of brown leather and suede trim with black hard plastics and soft-touch materials. Toyota has retained the layout of the center console for the most part, but the dash has been overhauled. A new widescreen infotainment system is now mounted on the dash, and horizontal slats that hide the A/C vents now adorn the front end of the cabin.
At the rear, you still get controls on the center armrest with the same amenities as before. The main difference now, apart from the color of the second row, is that rear passengers can now also enjoy the bigger sunroof up top.
No word yet on what’s under the hood, but we know from the recent launch in Singapore that the ASEAN-spec model comes with a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine that’s now mated to a pair of more powerful electric motors than before. Total power output is up by 20hp to 228hp.
We’ve no idea when TMP wants to launch this Camry, either, but all we know is that we should expect this to be launched sooner rather than later—we did get a real good look at it, after all. Anyway, for a better look, you can watch our walkaround video above and see more photos of it below.
