While the Cayenne opened new horizons for Porsche, it could be said that the Macan further expanded its audience. Without these two models, one could say that we wouldn’t see epic versions of the 911 and Cayman if it weren’t for the revenues generated from these crossovers.
Between the two, it’s the Porsche Macan that sells the most, easily becoming the brand’s top-selling model. Apparently, over 800,000 of these have been made since 2014. However, it will be interesting to see how it fares in the future as the second-generation is strictly electric-only.

Yes, you read that right. The all-new Macan has traded its turbocharged four and six-cylinder engines for batteries and motors. That said, we’re not too worried about the performance front as there are two meaty options to choose from.

The base model (at least for now) is the Macan 4. It packs two motors that give it a combined output of 408hp and 650Nm of torque. Those numbers are enough to propel the EV crossover to 100kph in 5.2 seconds from a standstill.
If that’s not enough, there’s the Macan Turbo. Granted, it doesn’t have turbochargers per se, but it does pull potent numbers. We’re talking about 639hp and, wait for it, 1,130Nm of torque. It also pulls supercar-baiting acceleration times with a 0 to 100kph run of just 3.3 seconds. For those curious, the Macan 4 has a top speed of 220kph while the Macan Turbo bumps it up to 260kph.

Both models use a 100kWh battery pack and utilize Premium Platform Electric chassis. It’s the Macan that gets it first, but we can expect more models to use it down the line. A likely candidate would be a new-generation Taycan, but that’s (probably) still a few years away. As for range, Porsche says the Macan 4 can get up to 613 kilometers on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Turbo version has an estimated range of 591 kilometers.
Looks-wise, one can call it an evolution over the previous generation model. It still has Porsche lines but there are a few elements inspired by the new Cayenne and the Taycan. These cues are more prominent at the front with its bumper designs and headlights. The rest of the body is coupe-like, while the rear end follows the brand’s current design language.

Inside, there is an option of a three-screen dashboard. But whether it’s specified or not, all Macans get a full digital instrument cluster and a widescreen infotainment display. While it’s (obviously) no 911, there are a few hits of classic Porsche design elements present in there. The company adds that the all-electric platform adds more interior space along with a ‘frunk’ (front trunk) for added utility and practicality.
Other things you need to know? The all-new Porsche Macan features active aerodynamics, electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (standard in the Turbo). Active suspension is also available, along with four-wheel steering.
