The Hyundai Ioniq 6 may not be as popular in our market as the Ioniq 5, but in a country like South Korea where sedans still rule the roads, this modern all-electric streamliner is a pretty common sight. Three years since its debut, this sleek, long-range fastback has been updated—with Hyundai also promising a proper Ioniq 6 N later this year.

But let’s first look at what’s been revealed at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show. Notwithstanding the model’s World Car Design of the Year win a couple of years back, the sleek, aero-focused silhouette has been somewhat divisive, so Hyundai’s designers have now tried to enhance the proportions with an elevated hood and extended shape. The rear end loses the old spoiler that broke the flow of the roofline, and instead gets a ducktail spoiler for a smoother profile.

Unlike the blocky Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 is meant to rip through the air like a bullet, so the original design leaned towards being curvy and narrow on both ends. Again, for a better-balanced shape, the updated model features more horizontal elements to give the impression of a wider stance.

“IONIQ 6 has evolved from a single Electrified Streamliner into a lineup, each model expressing its own character while staying true to one refined vision,” said Simon Loasby, senior vice president and head of Hyundai Design Center. “Under the evolved design concept of ‘Pure Flow, Refined’, we’ve enhanced every line and detail to make Ioniq 6 simpler and more progressive.”

Inside, the driving interface has been made more intuitive than before. The cockpit boasts a redesigned steering wheel and a more ergonomic center console layout, while the climate controls are now larger and easier to use than before. The amount of hard plastics in the cabin was often criticized in the pre-facelift version; this new one now gets new door trim materials for a more premium feel.

At its unveiling at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, Hyundai did not disclose any details about the performance and battery size of the facelifted Ioniq 6. If things are kept as status quo, then it still packs a capable 545km in driving range, with 226hp and 350Nm of torque. We can probably expect more details as the Ioniq 6 and its N Line variant inch closer to production.

As a bonus, the Ioniq 6 N Line was revealed alongside the updated standard car, with design cues derived from the RN22e Rolling Lab concept. It wears a different bodykit with wing-inspired bumpers and sills, making the car appear lower to the ground. The lighting units are dubbed ‘Parametric Pixel’ lamps. The rear is mostly finished in black for a sportier look.

Of course, this is just a preface to the full-fat Hyundai Ioniq 6 N. Hyundai has confirmed a July launch date for this high-performance variant, but revealed no other details so far. Based on our experiences so far, an N badge on a Hyundai EV is a very good thing, so we’re definitely looking forward to this next one.
