Suzuki Philippines (SPH) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and is hosting the Matsuri Village this weekend. As promised, it has given us our first proper look at the all-new Suzuki Fronx that’s bound for our market.
To the unfamiliar, the Fronx is Suzuki’s new subcompact crossover. Consider it a smaller replacement to the Vitara, and it’ll go up against the likes of the Toyota Raize and Kia Sonet—two formidable competitors in the ever-growing segment.

No specific details were shared just yet, but we were told that the Fronx will get a mild-hybrid engine under the hood. That could be the same as the 1.2-liter mild-hybrid gasoline setup that’s available in the Dzire. The range-topping variant will get advanced driver-assist systems including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-assist tech.
Whether or not there’ll be non-hybrid options remains to be seen. We were also told that it’s still pending with the Department of Energy if the Fronx will be recognized as a proper hybrid since it’s just a ‘mild-hybrid.’ But seeing as the Ertiga got green plates and gets the hybrid perks—such as coding exemption—there’s a chance the Fronx will be, too.
No prices are available yet, either, but SPH is looking at a launch towards the end of July. We’re guessing anytime within Q3, just to be safe. Anyone here looking forward to this launch? Let us know in the comments. You can also check out more photos below, too. Better yet, if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, the Fronx is on display at the Mall of Asia until tomorrow, June 15. It might be a good idea to swing by.
