The wait is over. Over the past few months, Suzuki Philippines had been giving us a systematic unveiling of its latest mini car, and today the teasing finally came to an end. Guys, say hello to the all-new Suzuki Celerio. Yes, we know it might be a little underwhelming with all that's been going on in the other vehicle categories, but the mini-car market is a pretty big deal, too, and Suzuki is poised to make a splash with the improved Celerio.
The new model will soldier on with the existing 1.0-liter three-cylinder K10B engine capable of producing 67hp and 90Nm, mated to either a five-speed stick shift or a CVT.
The all-new Celerio boasts a more mature-looking exterior design language. The headlights and the front grille now form seamlessly into one sleek, cohesive unit, giving the vehicle an edgier, sportier-looking front end--a sharp contrast from the previous model's cute demeanor. The overall size has also improved, with an extra 100mm and 70mm added to the car's length and height, respectively.
Suzuki opted to go with a more minimalist approach to the interior in order to complement the Celerio's maturation design-wise. The size increase makes for a roomier interior, but the real beneficiary is the car's luggage capacity, which can now haul up to 254L.
Suzuki Philippines president Hiroshi Suzuki is confident that Filipinos will welcome the all-new Celerio with arms wide open, pointing out the car's new design, comfort and fuel efficiency as key factors.
"You will all be amazed with the architecture of this model, particularly its best-in-class luggage capacity, comfort in driving, and outstanding fuel efficiency," Suzuki (the president) said at the launch. "We at Suzuki Philippines are confident that the Filipino will love the all-new and improved Celerio as much as it is loved by our customers all over the world."
