Volkswagen is showing that a car with a two-cylinder engine can look just as sexy as any V10-powered supercar. The German carmaker is accomplishing that with its XL Sport concept car at the ongoing Paris Motor Show.
Paired with the engine is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, giving the XL Sport 197hp and letting it sprint from zero to 100kph in 5.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 270kph.
Besides the V2 engine, the other upgrades the XL Sport received are its special air curtains, wheel arch air outlets, an optimized underbody, a diffuser that reduces aerodynamic lift, and adaptive exhaust heat vents integrated into the rear lid. A unique extending rear spoiler spans nearly the entire width of the car, transforming the XL Sport into a classic race car.
