The Toyota Corolla nameplate turns 60 this year. To celebrate, the Japanese carmaker has created 60th anniversary editions of its Corolla lineup in Japan. These special editions include commemorative badging, tuned suspension, new wheels, and a couple of other features.
The Active Sport variants of the Corolla and Corolla Touring are the first to receive the special-edition updates. These cars will feature ‘60th anniversary’ logos on the front fender and instrument panel, tuned suspension for the 2WD models (Toyota also offers AWD versions of the Corolla in Japan), and 17-inch black aluminum wheels.

Other features on the sedan and wagon include updated bumpers, rocker mouldings, sport seats finished in black and gray, and new body colors: ‘Neutral Black,’ ‘Emotional Red II,’ and a special ‘Neutral Black x Ash’ for the Touring model.

Toyota will also release 60th anniversary editions of the Corolla Sport and Corolla Cross. These are scheduled for launch starting mid-2026 onward, only in Japan.
Since the nameplate’s launch in 1966, the Corolla has come a long way. It went from being a simple economy car to an automotive icon. If you didn’t own one yourself, you probably know someone who did. You’ve also probably ridden in one at some point, whether it was your family’s car, a friend’s car, or a taxi.

60 years later, the Corolla can be seen in over 150 countries. It has sold more than 57 million units worldwide and has created jobs through production across 11 countries and regions. It has made its mark in the automotive world, from motorsport to driver’s education. And looking towards the future, it serves as a platform for hybrid technology and electrification.
Though the present-day Corolla is unrecognizable from the first-generation introduced in 1966, the legacy lives on. If you’re looking for a reliable daily companion to take you from point A to point B with little to worry about, chances are the Toyota Corolla is one of your options.
