Fresh off its 70th anniversary, the Toyota Crown will be getting an update for 2027. While it will retain its crossover body, the new and cleaner look gives it a much sportier impression.

This is mostly attributed to the revised black-and-white finish, which makes the Crown sleeker and more low-key. Black paint covers the entire grille and hood, then stretches over the roofline. Unlike the current model, however, the rear end is now one solid color. A white shade now envelopes the lower half of the car, save for a couple of garnishes and the side skirts.

Overall, this new design is cleaner and easier on the eyes. While we don’t have the official dimensions of the 2027 Crown, the grille also seems noticeably thinner—but that could just be the angle of the photo.

Similar two-tone finishes are technically already available on the Crown, but those still have dual-colored tailgates. Furthermore, it looks like the new model will also have the same wheel design.

Toyota Crown The 70th

Toyota calls this release a “partially redesigned Crown,” which suggests that no modifications will be made to the powertrain. If that’s so, then the 2.5-liter and turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid options will likely be available. Both are paired with dual motors and all-wheel-drive systems, but the former is rated at 236hp, while the latter gets 340hp.

The updated Crown is scheduled to be released in Japan in September later this year. It is unclear if this iteration will reach other markets, but stay tuned for the latest updates.
