As you can see in the variant names above, all short-wheelbase Tamaraws are powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that generates 137hp and 183Nm of torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. Its total length is 335mm shorter than the stretched version, and payload capacity ranges from 850kg to 1,025kg, depending on the body style. The Utility Van variant of this configuration has 2+10 seating, while the long-wheelbase counterpart features 2+12 seating.
If you want a diesel-powered Tamaraw, that powertrain is exclusive to the long-wheelbase version. The top-spec GL Dropside diesel is also the only variant in the lineup with an automatic gearbox. You can check out our first drive of the Tamaraw here.
