We’re already past the halfway mark of 2025, and at this point, we can’t help but wonder what carmakers have lined up as we draw closer to the end of the year.

Toyota Motor Philippines, for one, has yet to launch anything in months. Granted, it’s been busy with the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup—which is already in full swing, by the way—and the recently concluded Tamaraw Drive in Mindoro. A source, however, has told us that TMP could be breaking that dry spell soon with the introduction of a new variant for the Yaris Cross.

The new variant will have aesthetic improvements that will give the subcompact crossover a more flashy look. We don’t have photos to show you just yet—these are merely rumors at this point, after all—but you can imagine the same vehicle pictured above with added garnishes on the front and rear bumpers and the grille, among many others.

It’ll supposedly get some added features on the inside, too, including an E-Mirror. After Googling the term, it appears to be a digital rear-view mirror that doubles as the display for the rear-facing camera out back. There also could be added ambient lighting inside the Yaris Cross.

Mechanically, though, there will be no changes. Our source says this new variant will be a hybrid, and will be expected to come with the same 1.5-liter gasoline engine + electric motor that the other hybrids in the range get.

As implied, we have no confirmation yet about this new Yaris Cross variant, so we don’t have any potential pricing, either. Until TMP makes it official, don’t quote us on this just yet. Rest assured, we’ll be keeping an eye out for updates.
