Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has released a new configuration of its prized subcompact crossover: The new Toyota Yaris Cross SE HEV now sits as the top-of-the-line variant in the model lineup.
We first caught wind of this new trim last month, with rumors flying around that a new hybrid Yaris Cross would be outfitted with a flashier look and Toyota’s new digital rearview mirror or ‘E-Mirror.’

Now we know that there’s a lot more external flair and interior functionality on this SE HEV variant. And as the rumors suggested, the SE HEV carries an unchanged 1.5-liter hybrid powertrain, packing 89hp and 121Nm of torque.

On its fascia, the bumper, grille, and foglamps now sport gloss-black garnishes to give the Yaris Cross SE HEV a more refined look. There’s a new rear spoiler that’s also finished in glossy black. That then complements the new rear bumper that breaks the gloss-black theme with chrome accents.
Inside, the E-Mirror is indeed mounted on the new Yaris Cross. It serves as the digital rearview display, and can also record video from both the front and rear cameras. The cabin is also equipped with ambient lighting.

TMP has added a digital signal processor to the vehicle’s speaker system to improve audio quality. Interestingly, the horn has been replaced with a more ‘refined’ sound, and we’re curious to hear what it’s like.
All these additions equate to a P1.69 million price tag, a full P80,000 more than the Yaris Cross S HEV. Do you think it’s worth it?
