Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) last night made headlines when it previewed the new Honda Civic HEV alongside the new EM1 e:. Now, we’re here to give you a closer look at it.
Okay, some of you might have noticed that while this Civic looks similar to the current generation we know, it’s slightly different. That’s because the Civic e:HEV is based on the facelifted model that was launched in ASEAN just last month.

Up front, the sedan gets a new honeycomb mesh grille on both its upper and lower lips. The fog lamp housings by the bumper have also been replaced with smaller air intakes flanking the front fascia.
The new Civic hybrid sits on new-look alloy wheels. At the rear, there aren’t any significant changes, save for the addition of the new e:HEV badge. The front and rear Honda emblems have also been highlighted with blue to indicate that the car is, in fact, electrified.

The interior remains unchanged for the most part—you still get the same materials and layout inside the solidly built cabin. What’s new here—although it still isn’t shown in the photos—is the addition of Google Automotive Services via the latest generation of Honda Connect.
As for the engine under the hood, HCPI has remained mum and merely promised to share more details at the upcoming Philippine International Motor Show where the car will be fully launched. That said, we do have information from other markets, and we know that the lone hybrid powertrain available for the Civic e:HEV is the 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine paired with a traction motor and a generator motor that altogether put out 181hp—slightly lower than the 200hp output from the US version.
“The New Honda Civic RS e:HEV truly blends performance and efficiency with features that reinforce Honda in the field of leading-edge technologies in connectivity and safety,” said HCPI president Rie Miyake. “It has the power to give its driver confidence in every journey with less environmental impact. We are excited to introduce this new model, one that Drives like a Dream and give Filipino customers greater options in choosing an electrified vehicle in the Philippines. This, along with several more upcoming models, is set to further strengthen Honda’s x:EV portfolio in the country.”
More will be revealed in the coming month, so stay tuned. For now, you can check out more photos of the Civic below.
