It’s been quite the year so far, and as we shared in a previous article, the 2025 Top Gear Philippines Magazine Car of the Year Awards have been announced.

We gave out a total of 14 awards this year, similar to what we handed out in 2024. And like last year, we had Jaykee Evangelista of Groundworks Design create our magazine mock-ups for the awards. Because trophies are overrated.

For the big Car of the Year award, the Honda Civic RS e:HEV went up against the Hyundai Elantra HEV, the Ford Territory Hybrid, the Subaru Forester e-Boxer, and the Nissan Patrol. Other nominees that got a few votes were the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Honda HR-V e:HEV.

Another tight battle was for Hybrid of the Year, where the Elantra beat the Forester e-Boxer, Territory Hybrid, and BMW X5 PHEV. For Performance Car of the Year, it was a toss-up between the newly launched Toyota GR Yaris and its new automatic transmission and the Nissan Z Nismo.

The 4x4 of the Year was another notable battle, where the Ford Ranger Raptor V6 beat out the Ram Rebel 1500 and the BYD Shark 6 DMO. The Chinese truck, however, did bag Hypebeast of the Year.

Tesla also brought home two awards this year, being the Breakout Brand of the Year and Best New Tech Implementation. Toyota won Best in Marketing for its motorsports push this year—including the epic Villar City leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines Cup—and Mazda got the Love the Planet Award for its efforts to support Pawssion Project.

Lexus won the Luxury Car of the Year yet again with the GX Overtrail, while Hyundai brought home EV of the Year with the all-new Ioniq 9. The Korean carmaker also got the Underrated Car of the Year honors for the base-variant Elantra.

Lastly, for Big Bike of the Year and Small Bike of the Year, we gave the former to the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and the latter to the Yamaha NMax Tech Max.
