It’s already 2026, but we’re still going to talk about Takata airbags. Yes, that controversial airbag brand.
Not because another incident has been reported, but simply because Ford Philippines is re-issuing a service program for affected old models. The carmaker is now urging owners of select Ranger, Everest, and Mustang units to bring their vehicles to a dealership as soon as possible. If you haven’t been able to bring your old Ford for inspection yet, now’s your chance.

Ford PH Takata service program: Affected models
- 2004-2011 Ford Ranger (driver and passenger airbag)
- 2006-2014 Ford Everest (driver and passenger airbag)
- 2006-2014 Ford Everest (driver, passenger, and side airbags)
- 2011 Ford Ranger (driver airbag)
- 2010-2014 Ford Mustang (passenger airbag)
- 2010-2014 Ford Mustang (driver airbag inflator or driver airbag module)

To check if your vehicle is affected by the airbag issue, get its VIN, head to the official Ford Philippines Takata service program website, and input the 17-digit number there. For a guide on how to get your car’s VIN, refer to this old article of ours.
Once you’ve successfully done this, you can proceed to scheduling an appointment with your preferred Ford dealership through the Online Service Booking feature or by contacting said dealer’s service department. Both inspection and repair will be done at the dealership. Ford will be replacing all defective airbag inflators for free, and repairs should be done in two to three hours.
“The safety of our customers is absolute priority,” shares Ford Philippines Customer Service Division director M Pushparaj. “That’s why we remain proactive in reminding affected owners to book an appointment with their Ford dealer immediately to ensure a safe and worry-free experience on the road.”
If you know someone who owns a Ford affected by this recall, then spread the word, folks. If you yourself have an affected unit, it’ll be best to bring it to a dealership, stat.
