The Chinese automotive market is one of the largest industries in the world, and in 2025, it was led by the subcompact and fully electric Geely EX2. It was named the best-selling car in China after shifting 465,775 units in 2025. Mind, it was the top-selling nameplate across all segments and powertrains—not just battery electric vehicles.

For reference, the entire Philippine automotive market saw 491,395 units sold in 2025 and 467,252 in 2024. It is unclear how many cars local Geely dealerships sold in those years, but in any case, the Chinese carmaker is looking to make a splash in 2026.

Earlier in January, Geely Motors Philippines announced that it would be launching five new vehicles this year. With the plug-in hybrid EX5 EM-I already here, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the EX2 were the next in line.

A subcompact model would complement the brand’s refreshed lineup nicely, as it only currently offers larger crossovers. The EX2 would also give buyers a more affordable alternative to the EX5, the BYD Atto 3, and other electric vehicles in that class.

In China, the crossover is offered with either a 40.16kWh battery or a smaller 30.12kWh pack. The former delivers an advertised 410km of driving range, while the latter promises 310km. Geely also boasts that there are over 30 storage compartments in the EX2’s cabin, along with a 70-liter front trunk and a 375-liter rear cargo area.

All that range and storage does sound impressive for a car that comes in at just 4,135mm long, 1,805mm wide, and 1,580mm tall.
