Fuel costs are set to rise this week, as the Department of Energy has just shared the official price adjustment. These increases follow a welcome rollback on diesel in the previous week, as gasoline prices persistently get higher.

For the week of May 19 to 25, 2026, gasoline prices will increase by P1.21 per liter, while diesel prices will also rise by P2.82 per liter. Finally, kerosene prices will see a rollback of P2.21 per liter, starting tomorrow.

Notably, May 19, will also mark the eighth straight week of the Philippines under a state of national energy emergency. Declared on March 20, citizens have since been prompted to limit the amount of fuel and electricity they use. Mall hours have also been shortened during this time to save on power.

However, that was not enough to prevent the rotating brownouts that scattered across Luzon last week. A red alert was placed on the Luzon grid during that time, but the notice was lifted on May 15.

As the station of emergency persists, citizens can expect Libreng Sakay programs to continue on, along with discounts on public transportation systems. Waived terminal fees and monetary subsidies have also been issued to PUV drivers to further support them amid the fluctuating cost of fuel.
