It has been 50 years since Ferdinand Alexander Porsche came up with the initial design of the 911 in 1963. In September of that year, it was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In 1964, the 911 went into production. Seven generations on, the 911 remains unmistakable with its characteristic outline and rear-mounted flat-six engine.
PGA Cars, the official distributor of Porsche in the country, celebrated this half-century milestone of the iconic sports car with a brunch gathering at Tagaytay Highlands last Sunday. Present were 911 owners and Porsche Club Philippines members who drove their cars to the scenic venue. During the celebration, videos of the 911 were shown, from its conception to the latest generation as well as its motorsport achievements through the years. The activities also included testimonies from owners on why they love their 911s, and a photo contest titled, \"Me and my 911.\"
The highlight was a 911 display spanning the seven generations: the 901, the G-Series, the 964, the 993, the 996, the 997 and the 991. Along with the 911 model lineup, there were also a 997 GT3 RS 4.0 and a 356, which is considered as the 911\'s predecessor.
