Toyota and Daihatsu have announced that they have started exporting the Wigo from Indonesia to the Philippines, with sales expected to begin at the end of the month.
"We are confident that Philippine consumers will be satisfied with this environment-friendly and affordable compact car," said Daihatsu executive vice president Tatsuya Kaneko during the export ceremony for the Wigo. "By being the first to export a Low-Cost Green Car vehicle, we are very pleased to contribute to the Indonesian automobile industry through the advancement of vehicle exports."
Produced by Daihatsu's Indonesian subsidiary, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, the Wigo--which is sold as the Daihatsu Ayla in Indonesia--"will be sold in the Philippines under the Toyota brand by Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation."
Export volume of the Wigo to the Philippines is initially planned to be around 500 units a month.
