The LRT-2 will be waiving fares on every remaining Wednesday this August. Commuters can avail themselves of a free ride from 9am to 11am and then from 6pm to 8pm on August 13, 20, and 27.
Before boarding, they will need to present their PhilSys National ID to the security officers at the station. Physical and digital National ID cards will be accepted, and commuters can also present a printed paper copy if they have not received their cards yet.
A similar libreng sakay program is currently in effect on the MRT-3 train line, and commuters can enjoy free rides on the same dates and times. At the time of writing, Light Rail Manila, operator of the LRT-1 train system, has not yet offered a free ride promotion of its own.

Additionally, students, PWDs, and senior citizens traveling outside of those window hours can avail themselves of a 50% discount on single journey tickets. A special white-colored Beep card that automatically applies fare discounts is also available for PWDs and senior citizens. On Sundays, the LRT-2 train line also honors the Pamilya Pass, a special offer that gives commuting families four tickets for the price of one.
The train line will be seeing some changes in the coming months as the Department of Transportation announced that it will soon be installing cashless turnstiles along LRT-2 stations. These turnstiles are currently in pilot testing on the MRT-3 line, with several commuters experiencing issues and failed transactions. Hopefully, these birthing pains are resolved before the turnstiles reach the LRT-1 and 2.
