If there’s one thing keeping people from cycling to work, it’s the fact that if they do, they’ll end up looking like a mess by the time they get to the office. It’s only ideal for those who have the luxury of at the very least freshening up upon arriving at the workplace just before starting the day.
To help address this and to promote sustainable transport in the city, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), recently built new end-of-trip shower facilities that commuters can use. Now, the agency has released a few important guidelines.

To those who aren’t familiar, the free showers are located at the MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy in Pasig City. The facility is free of charge and is open to all active commuters, both cyclists and pedestrians alike.

The showers will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and each individual must present a valid ID before receiving a number for queueing. The agency has clarified that MMDA employees will be prioritized at these free showers.
Each person must bring his own toiletries and will be given 10-15 minutes maximum per use. All users must clean as they go and reminded to dispose of their trash properly. The end-of-trip shower facility is open daily from 5am to 8am and 6pm to 10pm only.
So, what do you guys think of this initiative from the MMDA? The agency plans to build more of these across Metro Manila, so expect to see similar facilities popping up in different key locations around the capital.
