As more and more motorists start hitting the road once again as we transition further in to general community quarantine (GCQ) in the metro, it’s almost inevitable that traffic violations will increase in number as a result.
Still, we’d be lying if we said we expected a traffic violation story to go viral on just the second day of GCQ. We are, of course, talking about Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) special operations commander Bong Nebrija’s experience with a motorist earlier today.
Nebrija took to social media to share his encounter with a motorist aboard a government vehicle, wherein the driver of the red-plated vehicle was flagged down for entering the bus lane along EDSA. The driver refused to cooperate with the enforcers and kept making excuses about how he was delivering essential services and needed to bypass the heavy traffic.
The MMDA’s traffic chief got tired of the guy’s arguments and asked him to just hand over his license, telling him that his ticket will be taken care of accordingly.
“I asked him to hand over his license and let us do our job. Pero palusot pa rin nang palusot, pakiusap pa nang pakiusap. So just to finish the non-stop excuses I told the driver: ‘Bigay mo lisensya mo at nakakahiya naman sayo, ako na lang magbabayad ng ticket mo,’” Nebrija said in his post.
Well, did he really pay for the ticket? Of course not. “I will just see him again when he can’t renew his license anymore,” added Nebrija. Harsh? You tell us. But is it justice served? We’d like to think so. Anyway, you can check out the actual Facebook post below.
