The EDSA-Kamuning footbridge, better known as Mt. Kamuning, is on its way out, and a brand-new, commuter-friendly concourse will take its place. According to the Department of Transportation, the Kamuning EDSA Busway concourse will be constructed similarly to the SM North EDSA Busway terminal—with pedestrian-friendly walkways and wheelchair lifts for PWDs and senior citizens.
The new concourse should also decongest the nearby GMA-Kamuning MRT-3 station, as busway commuters still need to enter and traverse through the station to reach the boarding area. Construction on the Kamuning EDSA Busway concourse is underway, and the structure should be completed by December later this year.

Also known as the Stairway to Heaven, Mt. Kamuning has been the subject of ridicule from the commuting public. The 30-foot-tall bridge is a grueling climb for pedestrians who need to pass through the area, while offering no compensation for those with special mobility needs. Good riddance, we say.

Earlier this week, the DOTr also announced a year-long rehabilitation project for the EDSA Busway. This includes the renovation of four stations and the construction of three new stops, but surprisingly, the EDSA-Kamuning concourse is not part of the project. Hopefully, that means that the improved terminal will be constructed swiftly and will not be subject to any delays.
Further down EDSA, a similar concourse is also being constructed at SM Megamall for the EDSA-Ortigas Busway stop. It is also not part of the rehab project, and it is expected to be completed by October. It looks like the EDSA Busway will be receiving several improvements in the near future, and we are here for it.
