EDSA Busway violators have somehow gone down in number—at least that’s what the data suggests—since the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) started implementing steeper fines against erring motorists.
But despite the declining number, there’s one type of vehicle that consistently tops the list: motorcycle riders. Seeing as it’s easy for those on two wheels to weave from one lane to another, it doesn’t really come as a surprise that they tend to misuse the exclusive bus lanes.
It appears some of these riders, however, tend to try and avoid apprehension even when they’re caught red-handed.

In a recent Facebook video by Gadget Addict, it was shown how one rider after another tried to hide from MMDA personnel and avoid their tickets even if they were already clearly caught on the busway.
As these riders exited the tunnels—areas which some people apparently think are “clear” enough to overtake via the busway—there were uniformed men already waiting for them on the other side.
What many of these riders tried to do was slow down and hang back, probably hoping that if they stayed behind long enough, enforcers might think they already missed their target. Another was to filter back in the middle of the slow-moving traffic to try and get out of the enforcers’ sight.
Did these people actually think either of these was going to happen? In case you hadn’t realized yet, EDSA is a one-way street whether northbound or southbound. You can’t easily make a U-turn just like that to save your life, nor can you just stop on the side of the road and wait for a window to pass. The ticket will always be inevitable, unless you really try resisting arrest and end up like these guys.
Anyway, you can check out the full video below. We hope this serves, once again, as a stern reminder to stay out of the bus lanes.
