If there was something the pandemic proved, it was that delivery riders are some of the biggest unsung heroes of our time. Now, they’re proving that yet again in the midst of the heavy downpours caused by Typhoon Carina.

In a video shared by ABS-CBN News on Facebook, a rider was spotted braving the floods just to bring food to his customer. Before we start discussing the situation, you can check out the video below first.

We’ll take the opportunity to make a request to everyone: If you live in a flooded area, please avoid booking deliveries of any kind if it’s possible. If it’s an emergency—you ran out of food or water or are in dire need of medication, for example—by all means, do so. But please, make sure you notify your rider about the current situation in your area.

Now, some might say that delivery riders all the more need these bookings during the rainy season. While we do agree, it’s only to a certain extent. If it’s raining outside, that’s okay, but if we’re talking about floods, then you might want to consider the other people’s safety first.

Oh, and lest we forget, please tip your riders extra during the rainy season. We’re very sure they’ll thank you for it.
