The results are in. Mazda Philippines and its #55 Team MSCC Mazda Miata have conquered the 2025 Petron Makabayan Cup. The MX-5 has been competing in the series since 2019, and it has finally captured its first full sweep and overall victory.
Last year’s Makabayan Cup consisted of three legs at the Clark International Speedway (CIS) and the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC). The first race, or the Kagitingan Cup, lasted four hours, with the longest stretch, the 12-hour Kalayaan Cup, following soon after. The series concluded at the eight-hour Bonfacio Cup, where Team MSCC completed its hat trick.

At each of the endurance races, Mazda’s roadster also set new lap records. Perhaps most impressive of all was a 2min6.6sec around at CIS, a 4.189km circuit.

For Mazda, it was important to keep the Miata’s 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine completely stock throughout the series. Between reaching podiums and setting new records, the car made the same 181hp and 205Nm of torque as all current-generation MX-5s do.

However, this racing Miata has gone through key adjustments throughout its years on the track. Previous modifications included an all-carbon-fiber body, while a new quick-shifting sequential transmission was added for the 2025 series.
The helm of the champion MX-5 was shared by racers Angie King, Windy Imperial, Tyson Sy, Juha Turalba, Matt Solomon, and Milo Rivera. The support team was then spearheaded by Edgen Dy-Liacco.
