The 2012 Formula 1 season resumes this weekend following its month-long, mid-season summer break. But while the rest of the teams spent the break quietly, Red Bull Racing took a different route by bringing its 2011 championship-winning RB7 show car to New York.
With David Coulthard behind the wheel, the RB7 show car was driven around Liberty State Park with the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty serving as its backdrop before it moved on to the Lincoln Tunnel. To complete its American vacation, the RB7 became the first F1 car to tackle the streets of West New York and Weehawken, New Jersey, that, on June 2013, will become the Grand Prix of America street circuit.
This isn't the first time that Red Bull Racing became the first Formula 1 team to drive the layout of a future track as Coulthard also drove the Red Bull F1 car around the then-under-construction Circuit of Americas near Austin, Texas, in September 2011.
