Super Bowl XLVI ads you may have missed

Featuring Clint Eastwood, Adriana Lima and a figure-conscious dog
Feb 7, 2012

Last week, we posted here the Super Bowl XLVI ads from Acura, Chevrolet, Honda, Hyundai, Lexus, Suzuki and Toyota. All of them showed the world these commercials even before the big game on February 5. Some carmakers, however, chose to wait until the actual game to broadcast their ads. And we're posting them here in case you missed them.

There was the one for the Volkswagen Beetle, featuring a fat dog that can't fit into the pet door. This poses a problem because the dog wants to get out every time a neighbor's Beetle cruises by. So the dog works out and starves itself into an athletic form. Watch the ad until the very end. There's a nod to the Star Wars theme from last year's VW Super Bowl ad.

And then there was the awesome Kia Optima ad, featuring the sexy Adriana Lima, the fierce Chuck Liddell and the raucous Motley Crue. Here, the sandman visits a couple and makes their pent-up dreams come true. Sort of.

BMW also rolled out its ad for the new 3-Series. This one basically just wants to tell you that the sixth-generation sedan can now read your e-mails to you. And it does so by playing on the trite "mother-in-law" issue.
