I really need your advice. I am a single city girl torn between getting a Hyundai Tucson GL and a Honda Civic. I know they are not comparable as they are of different classifications. But I really like the refinement of the Honda Civic VTEC and I like driving it. However, since I like doing road trips every now and then, an entry-level Tucson would really fit my lifestyle. My budget is between P900,000 and P1.1 million.
Can you help me finally decide on which vehicle to choose? By the way, I don't really find the 2012 Honda Civic appealing. It doesn't really matter to me if a new Civic is coming out soon.
Thank you for your help.
Thanks for the email. I'm happy to learn there's a city girl out there who loves taking road trips. I think that's rare and I commend you for it.
Generally, women drivers prefer a compact sport-utility vehicle such as the Hyundai Tucson because it offers a better view of the road ahead. Bigger wheels and fatter tires also mean you wouldn't have to worry so much about clearing bad road conditions. The past typhoons have also taught us that vehicles with raised ride heights mean better chances of getting to safety should flood start pouring in.
In your case, I feel an SUV would be a better choice as it gives you greater flexibility in the things you do, the places you go to and the stuff you can bring or haul around. Vehicles are all about freedom. Why limit yourself unless you know that what you really want and need in a car?
Now, the Hyundai Tucson is great but you might also want to take a look at the new Peter Schreyer-designed Kia Sportage. That's my favorite compact SUV at the moment as it is very stylish inside and out. It's very modern and very classy, too.
Hope this helps you decide. Good luck and God bless!
