When you were a kid, how did you get to school? These kids in the US go by bike—not just by themselves, but with a whole community. The movement is called the Bike Bus, an initiative that helps kids ride their bikes to school along with their classmates and friends, guided by teachers and parent volunteers who are also riding their bikes.
The initiative brings together the community while making kids look forward to going to school every day, all through the simple act of riding their bikes. In the video, you can see adults guiding dozens of kids through neighborhood roads and intersections to get to school.

Leading the group is Sam Balto, a physical education teacher and co-founder of Bike Bus World. You can check out more of their movement on their Instagram page. The Bike Bus seems to have a route where kids can wait along the sidewalks with their bikes to join the convoy.

It’s a warm feeling watching dozens of kids cycling together with smiles on their faces while going to school. In addition to making the community bond stronger, the movement also supports active mobility and instills this mindset in children from an early age. We can just imagine the core memories and stories they’ll tell their friends when they’re older.
The initiative is not only adopted within different parts of the US, but in other communities around the world. We wish more communities could have this kind of movement and hopefully raise awareness for safer roads for all kinds of mobility.
