When we watch detailing videos, we’re not all about the rat-infested gems or rotting barn finds. They can get a bit too disgusting at times, we admit. Every now and then, we enjoy seeing a nice car get a good wash.

Ammo NYC, the same channel that’s been treating us with all the fine detailing content over the years, is now back with another beautiful piece: a classic Mazda MX-5.

This Miata was properly maintained over the course of its 30-year existence. It only has just about 2,400km on the odo, but the owners were said to have the engine oil changed regularly to keep the car in good running condition.

Now, this Miata’s easily far from the usual rustbuckets we see from Ammo NYC, but it’s arguably still a bit dirty. The paint had swirls all over, and the plastic trim on the outside had all sorts of wax buildup on them. Nonetheless, it was still a relatively clean car.

That being said, Ammo NYC’s Larry Kosilla still had to be extra meticulous with this one, as he had to make sure all the fine details from the small spider webs underneath to the dirt hidden in some crevices were attended to.

The soft top had to remain closed, too, as the original owner never put the roof down all these years. Quite interesting for a convertible, no? But we suppose that played a huge role in keeping the interior in decent shape decades later.

The end result, as always, was stunning. The car went back to looking in mint condition, with its shiny body and pristine interior. The Miata’s set to go on sale, as the original owner has since passed away and the car has gone to his estate. Judging by what it looks like now, we reckon it’ll be able to fetch a pretty penny.
