Close calls behind the wheel usually come in the form of a poorly-timed overtake or a pedestrian popping out of nowhere to obstruct your path. These can ruffle a motorist's feathers, but they aren’t anything driving experience and honed reflexes won’t overcome. But what can you do if your car takes flight?
No, by ‘take flight’ we don’t mean driving over a bump at speed. We mean it literally—like several feet into the air.
The answer? Not much. At this point, you’re pretty much letting Jesus take the wheel. Thankfully for this drag racer, though, his invisible co-driver delivered in the clutch. Watch:
A Chevrolet Camaro goes airborne
Unable to maintain traction with the drag strip, the Chevrolet Camaro in the video above lifts off with its nose up and flies several feet into the air. It glides haphazardly hundreds of meters along the track before safely landing (okay, maybe not so much) and slowing down to a halt.
Alright, alright—maybe the drag chute had a bigger part in this miracle than a “God is my co-pilot” bumper sticker. You have to admit, though, that a hell of a lot of luck had to have come into play for the driver to walk away unharmed. What do you think?
