Officine Fioravanti, a tuner headquartered in Switzerland and working out of Turin, has revealed a rather gorgeous restomod of an already gorgeous Ferrari: this is the F40 Alte Prestazioni. For those who don’t speak Italian, that suffix translates as ‘high performance’.

‘But the F40 doesn’t need any more performance,’ you legitimately cry. And your cries are correct. Fresh out of Maranello, the F40 had a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V8 shoved in its middle, managed by a five-speed gearbox and diff, sending 471hp to those fat rear tires.

It’ll chalk off 0-100kph in 4.1sec on its way to a 323kph top speed. And yet, as you’ve no doubt seen, the F40 is… notoriously brutal. Officine Fioravanti acknowledges this, explaining its high-performance F40 “in light of the recent automotive news.” No prizes for guessing what they’re referring to.

So, their upgrades not only focus on making the Ferrari F40 shiny and new, but also “safer, more accessible and, when necessary, even more high performing.” There’s fancy four-way adjustable Ohlins suspension, plus “precision-machined” arms, bearings, and hubs, all made from “aerospace-grade” materials said to aid durability.

OF has specced its own carbon ceramic discs with Brembo calipers bolted over them, while those new hubs feature an integrated air duct for better cooling of the rotors. Famously, the original Ferrari F40 never bothered with fripperies like anti-lock brakes or power steering.

On that first point: OF has retrofitted an ABS system, with “cutting-edge sensors for optimal brake management.” And on the second point: it’s also added hydraulic power assistance and a “close steering rack.” There’s even a front lifter to better ease over bumps or curbs. To cap it all off, there’s a set of OF’s own 18-inch or 19-inch lightweight alloys, shod in Michelin Cup 2s or Pirelli Trofeo Rs and featuring center locks.

“With the F40 Alte Prestazioni, Officine Fioravanti transforms the car originally built to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary into a safer and more manageable supercar,” the company said, “while preserving its racing DNA.”

Though, OF very much wants you to touch it, because these upgrades are there to “preserve the precious original components from natural wear but also to create a true incentive for owners”.
