What is Gogoro?

Gogoro is a mobility company hailing from Taiwan. It has a wide range of Smartscooters, or what it calls its electric two-wheelers that feature swappable batteries. It officially entered the market back in April 2023 through a joint venture with Ayala Corporation and Globe’s 917Ventures.
Gogoro’s local operations started with a pilot program exclusive to Globe employees. Later on during the year, the brand opened the new Gogoro Experience Center in Greenbelt, Makati—the first of its kind located outside Taiwan.
In its home market, Gogoro has already rolled out about 600,000 Smartscooters, with 1.3 million smart batteries circulating across 12,000 battery-swapping stations. Now, Gogoro Philippines has officially begun selling its Smartscooters to the public.

How does the battery-swapping work?

Unlike traditional batteries from electric vehicles, bikes, and scooters, swappable batteries allow users to just exchange their current battery for a new one whenever it runs out of juice. This eliminates the need for charging and essentially removes the worries of battery maintenance, because users will always have a fresh new battery at any given point in time.
For Gogoro, the brand has GoStations, which are battery stations that have 30 slots in total. Users only need to go to the GoStation, insert their current battery, and wait for a new one to pop out. It’s seamless and very easy, and the entire process just takes about six seconds to complete—even faster than refueling a petrol car or bike at a gas station.

Which Gogoro scooters are now available in PH?
Currently, the brand has three models on sale here: the Supersport, the Delight, and the Premium. Let’s dive a bit deeper into each one.
Gogoro Supersport

The Supersport is the range-topping model and, as the name suggests, is the sportiest of the three. This electric scooter does 0-50kph in 3.9sec and has a listed top speed of 96kph, and estimated range is at 100km on a single charge. The Supersport comes equipped with larger wheels and tires as well as a traction control system for better handling, as well as disc brakes and Bosch ABS for better stopping power.
The top-of-the-line Gogoro also gets added niceties such as cruise control, a reverse function, and an optional Sport Activation to enhance the scooter’s performance. Remote monitoring is also available in the Supersport via a dedicated mobile app.
Gogoro Delight

The Delight is the current mid-range offering in the lineup. This model was actually created together with females, and the design and features it comes with were part of women’s preferences.
While being less sporty than the previous model mentioned here, the Delight can still go up to 90kph and has an estimated range of up to 100km. Apart from the lighter, less-aggressive design and colorway options, the Delight comes with a cup holder as standard and can be spec’d with accessories like a handbag holder and a helmet hook.
The Delight doesn’t get ABS or cruise control, but it does have a reverse function, a synchronized braking system (SBS), and a ‘Walking’ mode. Said mode allows users to move the vehicle easily around tight spaces without having to use much force to push it forward.
Gogoro 2 Premium

The most affordable model in the range is the 2 Premium. It doesn’t differ that much from the Delight in terms of design, but it has a much longer range at 170km. It gets the other tech its stablemates have such as the digital instrument cluster and the keyless operation, but this one doesn’t get ABS or cruise control. It does still get a reverse function as well as SBS.
How much are the Gogoro scooters in PH?
So the biggest question here is on the price tag. The Gogoro range starts at P255,000 for the 2 Premium, followed by the Delight at P270,000, then the Supersport at P285,000. You can check out the full price list below.

How does the Gogoro subscription work?

Gogoro users will be charged a monthly fee with set caps to use the GoStations. Currently, two plans are available—check them out below.
Gogoro PH subscription plans
- P799/month – 300Ah cap, or about 420km
- P999/month – 520Ah cap, or about 700km
If customers end up not using the allocated charge, there will be no carryovers towards the next month. If the opposite happens and the cap is reached before the month resets, customers will be charged P3 per Ah in excess.
Payment for these subscriptions can be via credit cards or GCash. Gogoro Philippines says it will introduce more payment options in the future.
How can Gogoro service or repair my scooter?

Firstly, maintenance isn’t that necessary with a Gogoro. There are fewer moving parts in this electric scooter than there are in a petrol-powered motorcycle, so no need for oil changes and the like. Batteries, as mentioned previously, are the least of any user’s worries, as batteries are almost always new. Gogoro also launched over-the-air updates, so any necessary enhancements can be made using just a smartphone.
In case you do need to bring in your Smartscooter for repairs and the like, Gogoro has already opened its service center at the Dela Rosa Carpark 1 in Makati City.
Where are Gogoro’s Go stations located in the Philippines?

Initially, there are five GoStation locations. Take note, though, that the fifth one has yet to be set up as of this writing, but it will be situated together with the service center that’s already up and running. Expect that location to be operational real soon.
