They say that anything with seven seats in the Philippine auto market is a surefire hit. They’re not entirely wrong, as the extra versatility a third row provides is always a big plus—but to enter the segment prepared would be a death sentence.
With the likes of the Toyota Avanza, Mitsubishi Xpander, and Suzuki Ertiga taking up the majority of the local MPV pie, any new entry would be met with raised eyebrows. Hyundai, though, appears to know exactly what it’s doing with the introduction of the Stargazer.
For starters, it’s priced competitively. The base unit has an introductory price of just a smidge under P1 million.

You can also argue that the Stargazer has the most eye-catching design in the market right now. This is primarily thanks to the seven-seater’s unique front end which features a futuristic lighting unit that spans the length of the face.
The cabin appears to be built nicely as well. There’s plenty of plastic, yes—but nothing inside really gives off the vibe that the environment isn’t a durable one. There are some neat storage options inside, as well as fold-down trays for passengers looking to have a snack in traffic.
