Rowan Atkinson is a national treasure to the Brits: He’s not only smack-your-knees-laughing funny, he’s also a serial car nut, having owned everything from McLaren F1s and Lancia Delta Integrales to Land Rover Defenders. And now, he’s selling the latter through Iconic Auctioneers.
The car in question is a one-of-400 Land Rover Defender 110 Heritage Edition with just 6,115km covered and a pre-auction guide price between £65,000 (P4.6 million) and £80,000 (P5.7 million). This could climb quickly once the buyer’s premium, taxes, and all the other palavers are factored in.
Let’s start with the paint: pristine Grasmere Green on the body and an Alaskan White roof. Up front is a bespoke ‘Heritage’ grille, which sits between the traditional spherical headlights and encompassing square box design. It’s very retro, and—in our experience of old Defenders—sure to break down when exposed to any sort of driving. Even to the supermarket.

Other notable exterior design traits include the silver front bumper and black end cap combo, while clear indicator lenses, silver door hinges, and aluminum-style badging do well to recapture the mid-20th-century design language.
Likewise, the cabin’s immaculate quality means there’s plenty to sit and admire by the side of the road. That includes a perforated leather steering wheel and gear lever, and aluminum trim along the air vents, the door handles, and the locks.
The interior is also finished in Almond Resolve cloth and features a padded cubbyhole between the front two seats. Lovely.
Atkinson has also updated the car with a few modernities, including a factory-spec tow bar, air-conditioning unit, and several other electronic upgrades. The ad states the car has been fitted with a new alarm, too, but we can’t understand why: If someone does manage to get in, it’s not like they’d be able to go anywhere.
Anyway, this bucket of fine materials is valued pretty reasonably for what you’re getting in return. You may even get to meet Rowan Atkinson, which in itself is surely worth the guide price, right?
