We’ve seen an influx of crossovers here in our market over the past year or so, and the latest introduction comes in the form of the new Hyundai Venue. Coincidentally, this new subcompact crossover was launched just a week after the Kia Stonic itself made its local debut.
And that’s why we thought to ourselves: What better way to get a better look at these two new Korean offerings than putting them against each other in a proper spec-sheet comparo, right?
Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to do here. So if you, like us, want to see how the new Hyundai Venue actually stacks up against its Kia Stonic cousin on paper, then you’ve come to the right place. Let’s get right to it and take a closer look.
Size-wise, the two are fairly similar. The Venue is only 60mm shorter, 35mm wider, and 32mm taller than the Stonic. That said, the latter’s wheelbase is 30mm longer and it also has 15mm more ground clearance.
In terms of power output, the Venue’s 1.6-liter engine is more capable, as it generates 121hp and 151Nm of torque. The Stonic’s 1.4-liter mill, meanwhile, only produces 99hp and 132Nm. Both of these powertrains come mated to six-speed automatic gearboxes that propel the front wheels.
When it comes to added features, this bout’s pretty close. Both vehicles come with eight-inch infotainment systems that support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some of the biggest differences here are the Stonic’s smart keyless entry system and hill-start assist feature, and the Venue’s power-folding side mirrors and traction control system. Also worth noting is that while both vehicles have reversing cameras, only the Stonic has rear parking sensors.
Price-wise, it’s even closer. The P915,000 Hyundai Venue only undercuts the P925,000 Kia Stonic by a mere P10,000. Will that measly price difference be the make-or-break factor for car buyers? You tell us. Check out the specs of these two crossovers below, then you can tell us afterwards which one’s your pick.
