If fuel prices have got you pinching your pennies, then it might be time to start thinking about electric vehicles. There are several options in our local market, and many of them come in at well under P1 million.
Over the last couple of years, brands have also come out with fully electric cars of their own. And just within this month, we’ll see the new Toyota Urban Cruiser and the Kia EV5.

1) BYD Seagull
The Seagull has helped BYD Cars Philippines cement its place in the local market. It’s been available for a couple of years now and still brings a lot of value. Buyers can pick up a brand-new unit for P938,000.
2) Changan Lumin L
Changan understood the assignment with this one. While it lacks an infotainment display, it performs the essentials very well. We’re talking 301km in driving range, along with a decently engaging ride. Not bad for P799,000. There is even a standard-range variant for P699,000.
3) VinFast VF3
The lone crossover on this list, the VF3 has built quite the following over the past year. We’re seeing more of them on the road, and many are customized with aftermarket wheels and accessories. VinFast offers the VF3 for just P590,000 with a battery subscription. Those who opt to absorb the full value will need to pay P745,000—still well under P1 million.
4) Jetour Ice Cream
You can’t forget one of the originals. The Ice Cream blazed the trail for some of the vehicles on this list, and it is still available today for P699,000. While Jetour may be more famous for its T1 and T2 SUVs now, the brand humbly began with this little electric vehicle.
