We’ve seen a lot of interesting options over the years. We’ve seen shower systems (Nissan Vanette), fax machines (Toyota Celsius/Lexus LS), and even starlight ceilings (any Rolls-Royce).

But today’s interesting option comes from Brazil, Toyota Brazil, to be specific. Forget tint, body kits, or sunroofs. For a little extra, the company will happily armor your car.

Yes, you read that right. You can buy a Toyota in Brazil and opt for a bulletproof version. At this point, you’re probably wondering why. Well, let’s just say Brazil has its share of violent crimes, and the fact that there’s demand for these vehicles does say something about it.

Mind you, the armoring here is on the light side. It won’t be able to deflect high-caliber rounds or TNT, but it’s rated to withstand small arms fire and melee weapons such as bats, metal pipes, or other weapons of opportunity.

Interested customers can simply go to their nearest Toyota dealer and request for the armored option. Toyota then sends the car to a certified armoring company. After that, the customer can pick up the unit back at the dealership.

It isn’t known how much the armoring costs on top of the vehicle’s SRP, but we reckon it won’t be cheap. If you’re curious, there are four models that are ready for light bulletproofing. These are the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Hilux, and Fortuner. The best part is, you can still get it armored even after you’ve bought the car.

Oh, and there’s a five-year warranty, too.
